I had this idea: Instead of a book tour (showing up in various cities and praying people will turn out at the bookstores to hear me read), I could do a book club tour. That way, I could hang out with a bunch of readers, answer any questions they had, and best of all, hear their thoughts on the issues raised by my book, issues like whether an emotional affair is more forgivable than a sexual one, what intimacy really means, and where we draw the line in our own lives. At my readings, the discussions have been fascinating and fun and I expect the book clubs will follow suit.
So, write to me and let me know if you and your book club are interested. I’ll then see if I can line up some other book clubs in that area and if I can, I’ll be on a plane out. I’m looking to start in late spring and see where it goes from there. If I can’t make it to your area, I’d love to be there by phone.
