Yesterday, I gave my first reading for Love and Other Natural Disasters, and I just have to thank all who attended and the phenomenal Book Passage bookstore. What I’d hoped for came to pass: a lively, funny, vigorous discussion about not just the chapter I read, but about where we draw the line in our own relationships. It felt more like facilitating a discussion than a Q & A in some ways. Getting to hear people react to the characters I’d written and using that as a jumping off point to explore larger issues of intimacy and monogamy was just a real treat. We actually ran out of time. It turns out “Wait, can I just ask one more question?” are some of the sweetest words in the English language. I’m looking forward to my next two readings. Please come out and participate!
